About Us Salago started trading, as a retail store, in June of 1971, in a premises on the High Street, Totnes, South Devon, England. The initial product range consisted of leather goods, sheepskins and Indian and Greek fashion clothing, in fact Salago was one of the first retailers in the South West of England to specialise in Indian clothing.
It was a risk starting a shop which stocked these unusual types of products, at a time when Totnes was still a fairly traditional market town, with very conventional shops. In fact, other local retailers are known to have said "that shop will never last".
In 1983 Salago moved up the High Street to its current location, a much larger building with two floors. This extra space allowed for a dramatic expansion in the product range. The lower floor space was devoted to stocking a larger range of ladies fashions and accessories, foot ware, leather goods and jewellery.
The first floor was home to totally new product ranges, including toys, books, soft furnishings, games and many more.
This expansion has lead to Salago being one of the major retail stores in Totnes.
Throughout the history of Salago, and to this day, we have tried to stock unusual, high quality items , products that are made mainly from natural materials, such as cotton, hemp, wood, clay etc.
Exactly thirty years after Salago first opened, it has expanded yet further, with the launching of Salago.Com, the online version of Salago.

| Making A Purchase From the home page either click on a product category, special offer or onto the "online shop button". Once in the catalogue navigate to your chosen item using either the "catalog", the "site map" or the "search" buttons. You can see a larger picture of an item and its description, in a separate window, by clicking on the relevant thumbnail picture. To close the window click on the photo. To buy a product click on the shopping basket symbol. A new page will ask you to confirm, you have the choice to buy the product now, continue shopping or cancel. You can check and edit the contents of your shopping basket at any time by clicking onto the "shopping cart" button. When you have found all the items you require, click on "checkout" to make your purchase. Follow the onscreen instructions to follow the order process. Your order will not be processed until you press the final submit button. On doing so, an order summery page will be displayed, we suggest you print this out and keep it for your records. |
Shipping And Handling There will be a postage and packing charge of £3.50 for all orders shipped to a UK address. There may be additional postage and packing charges on some heavy or large items, but this will stated in the relevant sections of the catalogue.
If you are ordering from outside the UK, we will email you with the shipping costs before processing your order, please email back to accept the shipping cost quoted, so we can finish processing your order.

| Delivery Schedule Items will be sent by second class post or Parcel Force, First class or overnight delivery can be arranged at an extra cost. Fragile or heavy items may be sent by Parcel Force, and may take up to 5 days. If your order is urgent please email us at sales@salago.co.uk with your order number and requirements, and we will email or phone you back with information regarding the delivery costs. Tax Charges For orders made from the UK or the European Union, 17.5% VAT is added. All other orders are VAT free and you should click the exempt button to reduce VAT to zero .
All prices in the catalogue include VAT at 17.5% (or the current UK VAT rate). Orders shipped outside the EU are exempt from VAT, and in these cases VAT will be deducted from your order manually at the time of order processing.
