 | Q'ewar Peruvian Waldorf Dolls When you buy one of these Waldorf inspired dolls you are giving support to Q'ewar Project in Peru. Salago has exclusively imported these dolls from this social and economic initiative with the indigenous women in the Quechua community od Q'ewar in southern Peru. The women of the Q'ewar project live in extreme poverty, and for most, this is the first chance they had to learn skills to earn money in a humane and respectful working environment. Although the project is young, the original intention - toprovide opportunity for these women to improve the difficult conditions of their lives - is bearing fruit little by little
It takes a whole village to create these beautiful, museum quality child friendly dress up Waldorf dolls! Homespun fibres and fabrics reflect a wide variety of traditional clothing and skills of shepherding alpaca and sheep, carding, dyeing, weaving, knitting and embroidery. Natural fibres are used, ranging from sheep wools for the stuffing to alpaca yarn for the dolls hair. Most of the dyes come from local plants. |
